Phase 2 is an active training phase in which the cadet begins taking primary responsibility for DOC tasks under FTP Supervision. During this phase, the cadet is expected to perform duties while FTP Staff observe and evaluate performance without unnecessary intervention. Cadets in Phase 2 shall be required to successfully complete the following tasks:
  • 3 (three) inmate transports.
  • 2 Incident Reports
  • 1 (one) visitation.
  • 1 (one) inmate riot scenario.
FTP staff shall still shadow the cadet during all Phase 2 activities, and allow the cadet to operate independently unless intervention is absolutely necessary to ensure safety, prevent escalation, or correct major procedural errors. Cadets are encouraged to ask questions at any time if they are uncertain- however, FTP staff should prioritize observing how the cadet handles situations independently. The objective of Phase 2 is to evaluate decision-making, procedural compliance, communication skills, and overall readiness to function without direct supervision.
