During Phase 1, a trainer should do Basic Tactical Training with the cadet (typically done after academy). This consists of Aim Assessment, as well as basic clearing and communication skills in the training yard.
Required Items
- Large Target
- 6x Target
- 6x PD Bandit 1
- 6x PD Bandit 2
- 6x PD Hostage 1
- 6x PD Hostage 2
- The Aim Assessment will only require the
Large Target. Place it near the gate that goes to the training yard, and instruct the cadet to stand in line with the gas pump. Inform them of the three main commands Aim, Fire [number of shots], and Ceasefire.
- When you instruct
Aim, the cadet is to aim is weapon towards the target.
- When you instruct
Fire, include a number of shots which they are to shoot.
- When you instruct
Ceasefire, the cadet is to put their weapon down.
- The Basic Tactical will require
5 of each of the Targets, PD Bandit 1, PD Bandit 2, PD Hostage 1, and PD Hostage 2 . You are to set this up in the training yard, and the layout of this is at the trainers discretion.
- With the remaining one of each of the items, set them up in a line next to where the academy was hosted. This allows the cadet to visualise what they will see, and allows you to explain what to shoot, and what to not shoot.
